She also experienced pneumonia from her asphyxiation and multiple organ failures. Lovato’s fifth and sixth albums, Confident (2015) and Tell Me You Love Me (2017), infused soul and mature themes. She earned a Grammy Award nomination for Confident, while « Sorry Not Sorry », the lead single from Tell Me You Love Me, became her highest-charting single in the US, reaching number six.
With both assaults she has faced in her life, the pop star chose to remain publicly silent because of how she saw women like Rihanna treated by the public following their physical traumas. Her mom compared the experience to a “horror movie.” After enduring severely low oxygen levels, Lovato had three strokes and a heart attack. The strokes left her with brain damage and blind spots in her vision, so she can no longer drive.
Valderrama has since moved on with model Amanda Pacheco, announcing his engagement in January, and so has Lovato. In addition to her professional work, Lovato has also remained focused on activism and using her platform for good.
